What better way to mark Transition Month than hosting a community clean-up and barbeque afterwards?

On 23rd July, Rotaract Clubs of Karen, CUEA and Cooperative joined The Rotary Club of Karen for a clean-up exercise in the Karen Community. We were also joined by partners who are equally passionate about a cleaner and healthier community. This included Karen Police station, Karen Plains Police station, Lankana and Luminous Matatu Saccos, and the small traders community.

But the hero of the day had to be PP Janet Mathenge – Membership Director who hosted us in her backyard for a meet and greet barbeque after the clean-up.

“Our planned venue for the meet and greet barbeque was cancelled last minute and the RCK Membership Committee had to figure something out in less than 12 hours; my backyard was the best alternative.

When we got home, the backyard had been transformed and filled with the smell of nyama choma. Thanks to Rtn. Ken Idwasi. The RCK members, prospective members, Rotaractors and guests who attended had a great time until late.”

Shout out to Rtn. Ken Idwasi (RC Hurlingam) for setting up the tents and making sure the venue looks sassy on short notice!
